He decided to go with honesty. If they were getting into bed together, whether literally or as friends and having some kind of relationship - whatever it was - then he needed to try honesty. At least to a degree.

"I didn't intend it to go here. I thought... I thought maybe with having those other sides, and knowing one another's other life now, then maybe it would be enough to form a friendship over. Then you got here and..."
