If you had to explain the roles of the movie to other people who wouldn't have any context to base it off of, how would you do it?
Cobb - Always the Man. Class president. Easy smile for everyone. That guy that wasn't the jock jerk but the one that rallied everyone at the big game, made sure that the new kids didn't get put in lockers, and new half the class by name. The one that parents never believed could do any wrong, and he knew how to play that.
Mal - Inappropriate french teacher. Always on the fringe of the students though she shouldn't be. Low cut blouses, pencil skirt and heels, smoking outback of the school and driving a convertible with the top down in the dead of winter.
Ariadne - She's the new kid that never seems new. Comes into the big city from the midwest, or the pacific north east, or somewhere else sort of out of the way and barely noticed and the moment she hits the campus she has a handle on it. Common sense mingling with the innate curiosity and a sort of in your face way of approaching everything that leaves most of the others just nodding along. Sort of like that breath of fresh air just takes them all by surprise.
Arthur - Since kindergarten he's been the top kid in his class. Younger he was the one that kept to himself, always colored inside the lines and never once got in trouble for having a messy cubby. As he got older he was the kid with all the ribbons for scholastic bowls and academic competitions but never seen as more than a brain. Right until that day the local karate championships are held at the school gym and he's the one standing at the end with the trophy a good foot taller than he is, black belt since he was in single digits and acting as if it was commonplace to kick ass.
Eames - Most seem him as the class clown. Always quick with a smile, making the easy joke and doing things to make others smile. Most are happy to leave it at that but the class clown is the one that pays attention. It's how they know what jokes work with whom. Class clowns are chameleons, finding ways for attention and laughs and how to make others smile. They do what most can't. They laugh in the face of the pain, knowing they can get through it so long as they persevere.
Yusuf - I don't know if every school had this or just mine because we were in the meth capitol of the west coast. All towns have dealers. Most have someone growing or making their own. Yusuf isn't that kid. He's the smart one. He's the one using all that college level chemistry to create designer drugs no one has ever heard of. The one that starts the new trends and as the last one dies, he's got the new drug out there and waiting, luring everyone in because he has the best.
Fischer - Recently graduated, Robert is that new teacher everyone has. That one most girls hope for and every guy wants to go. Handsome and shy, teaching poetry or literature and when asked about his family goes silent and changes the subject back to Shakespeare despite the Harvard business school degree he holds.
Saito - Principal made in the mold of House. Life isn't about following the rules, it's about making them.
