New and improved how I play Arthur post. Condensed. Will also be posted to the UI and updated to this post from now on. Sorry for the constant updates but as I play him I realize more and more about him.

- On his background: Arthur was born and raised in Las Vegas. His mother died when he was young, his father when he was seventeen. His father died when he was seventeen, within hours of his first experience being the subject of another's dream. After that, Arthur stayed in Vegas until just after his 21st birthday. Despite his distaste for the life that had lost him his father, Arthur stayed with the syndicate his father had given his life for. At an early age, first for his father and then the man in charge, Arthur learned the value of research and used that skill to make a name for himself. Not to mention a decent bank account. Just after his 21st birthday, after studying dream sharing for three years, he took his first job as pointman, freelancing for years until he met Dominic Cobb.

On the subject of Arthur and Eames: Way back when, before Mal's death, the boys worked together more often. There was a lot of the same banter as now, but without as much of a sharp edge. They were actually becoming a bit more close than friends should be when Mal snapped, plummeting to her death. It had more of an effect on Arthur than he'd ever show, and he walked away from a lot of things out of pain and a need to be there for Cobb. Including Eames. Now the banter is less teasing and a lot more subtle attacks.

On the Subject of Arthur's past before dream sharing: Yes, he was part of the syndicate both before and after his father's death. He won't talk about it often. He won't tell many of the details, especially if pressed. The truth is, he has killed and nearly been killed. He's fought for his life, and destroyed financial empires. He likes being a pointman though, and to him that is who and what he is.

On the Subject of Sexuality: Though Arthur never talks about this, he is bisexual. He's never really dated anyone, though there was a time when he was a lot more open sexually - usually through one night stands and casual encounters. After the emotions that arose with Eames, things changed though and he has been a lot more withdrawn sexually, changing himself and focusing on work. Mal's death, Dom's obsession, Ariadne's spirit, and Eames' return to his life has changed a lot of things in his emotional life, some of which he hasn't worked out.

On the Subject of Names: Arthur always has that Christian name as his name on any of his long term identification. Outside of temporary papers, his last name is listed as one of four names, none of which are likely to be his real name: Tibbord, Westbrook, Easton and Darling. Yes, Darling.

On the Subject of those three little words: Arthur is capable of deep emotion. He's also not one to easily share this, though it shows in many of the things he does. One thing he won't do is say "I love you". They're words he hasn't said for as long as he can remember. His father wasn't affectionate in that way, though Arthur never felt unloved. He's the same way. He will show love in a dozen different ways but he doesn't say I love you.

On the Subject of Mal: Arthur was not in love with Mal. He was, though, enamored with her in a sort of a devoted way. She was much a mother figure to him when he'd had none. Sometimes this will influence how he treats women.

On the Subject of Intimacy: Arthur can be entirely touchie feelie with someone he cares about. Small brushes against cheeks, touching the inside of a wrist, holding hands. He is capable of great heights of passion ~~even if his mun keeps pondering giving him a sexual dysfunction~~. Yet he isn't one to rush into sex. He finds the little things, the build up and foreplay, to often be more erotic and can spend hours just kissing someone. Weeks spending time with them, talking and touching ~~and in the case of a certain forger, snarking and possibly hitting~~. One thing he is a little paranoid about is intimacy within dreams. This is where he works, where he goes to steal and hide. It was also where Mal went to hide from the world. He's very cautious about that line between dreams and reality.

On the Subject of a Home: Arthur lives in an upscale hotel. He always does, if he isn't crashing in workspace. He's never had a home that he recalls, and currently has no plans to change that. What we plan and what happens isn't always the sameHe's looking at you dreamsofmazes.

Random Facts

- Arthur is capable with pistols, rifles and shotguns, skilled in explosives, and knows various forms of hand to hand combat. Despite that, he prefers to work with knowledge, especially outside of the dream share.

- He makes no point of celebrating or acknowledging his birthday. It is a statistical fact. It will happen. Move on.

- The die he carries was part of the first set of loaded dice he ever made. It was a skill he learned from his father.

- Arthur is capable of cooking - since cooking is all about just following a list of instructions and he's good at that - but he hasn't ever really made an effort to do so.

- Whenever possible - and it isn't always - Arthur eats whole foods and organic. Not because he's conscientious about animals and the Earth so much as he knows he isn't the biggest and baddest out there but he won't let himself be bested in a fight so his health and body are important to him.

- On a whole, Arthur doesn't like defining himself beyond pointman. When asked about things like his past, his sexuality, his family, he will often evade rather than giving a direct answer. It isn't so much trying to be enigmatic as knowing how important information can be and he'll make others work to get it from him.
